Overview

Name: Road Ecology Research Society of Japan (RERSJ)

Purpose:
To explore the interrelations between roads and nature, including green areas and wildlife, and through academic research, technical information gathering and dissemination, and fostering exchange and public awareness, contribute to the preservation of natural environments, ensure biodiversity in transportation infrastructure planning, management, and operation, and ultimately improve the quality of the social environment.

Activities:

  1. Research activities related to environmental conservation

  2. Exchange and public awareness (“outreach”) activities

  3. Coordination, advice, and support concerning operating or managing organizations that conduct activity mentioned in the previous item

  4. Recommendations and advice to transportation infrastructure operators

Projects / Operations:

  1. Hosting research meetings on nature conservation in road / transportation infrastructure

  2. Publishing journals, newsletters, and other publications

  3. Collecting and providing technical information for environmental conservation

  4. Information exchange domestically and internationally

  5. Public awareness and dissemination activities
